John K. on Ed B.!
Okay, this post is much more animation oriented.
Here's a great interview that John Kricfalusi did with Ed Benedict in the mid-90's around the time of the Flintstones 35th anniversary. It originally appeared in the supplemental book that came with the same 1997 Laserdisk release as the guide to Flintstones Animators that I ran last month. Fascinating, Illuminating and often unbridled, two of animation's mavericks chew the prehistoric fat and we get to listen ...so pull up a rock, pop open a cactus cooler and enjoy.

Thanks a million for posting this awesome interview! This was the most informative and entertaining article I've read in quite a while, truly a great artist that deserves more recognition.

HOLY CRAP! Thanks for posting this, I'da never seen it otherwise!! Too young to afford it when these 'layzer - discus' things were out.
John K's the only artist I ever met who actually bothered to bug these greats for working tips.

Excellent - thanks for posting this!
P.S. And 'Musical Bar-B-Cue' and 'Surf & Turf' come up on shuffle on my iPod ALL THE TIME!

What I find of particular interest in the 'Stones laser set is how much politically incorrect stuff made it under the radar. Turner's legal eagles were certainly a lot more loosey goosey than the current crop at AOL/Time-Warner. Earl Kress had some amazing stories about things he couldn't use for the special features in the DVD Flintstones sets, which in no small part explains why they haven't been all that special. Still cool to have 'em on DVD, though.

Mr. John certainly is kooky. I really hope someday to slay the executive beasts.

Whoa, John K is a terrible interviewer. Persistent and enthusiastic, but he's just not listening to the interviewee.
